Dr. Backenstoss is an expert in the field of the women’s imaging, performing all modalities ranging from mammography to biopsies to needle localizations prior to surgery to advanced breast MRI. After finishing medical school in France, Dr. Backenstoss trained in obstetrics and gynecology, medicine, and nuclear medicine prior to her diagnostic radiology residency. She then completed a fellowship in mammography at the prestigious Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania prior to joining Rochester Radiology. Under her direction, the Women’s Imaging section has been recognized by the American College of Radiology as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence since 2007, utilizing the latest state-of-the-art digital mammography, minimally-invasive techniques, and breast MRI to help achieve the correct diagnosis.
Dr. Backenstoss lives with her husband and daughter in Pittsford. Fluent in English, Arabic, French, Spanish, and Italian, she enjoys cooking, reading, and photography.
