Clarivein™ Venous Ablation

Clarivein™ Venous Ablation

Clarivein is a brand new technique and device used to close down the large veins that cause varicose veins. The concept is very similar to EVLT. However, rather than using heat from a laser tip to close the vein, the Clarivein device uses both mechanical irritation (a small metallic arm at the tip rotating at a high speed against inner vein wall) combined with sclerotherapy (the same chemical sclerosant used in ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy).

Because Clarivein does not utilize heat, it requires less anesthetic injections and offers no risk of burning surrounding structures. The procedure is awaiting FDA approval, but shows extreme promise. The Vein Institute at Advanced Therapies is one of the first vein centers in the nation to have already performed this cutting edge technique.
