What to Expect At Your Free Vein Screening

The free vein screenings are designed for patients who are unsure if their leg symptoms are caused by vein problems.  You will fill out a short history form, change into a gown, and have a brief ultrasound to determine whether or not your veins are functioning properly.  Should you be a candidate for treatment, we will encourage you to make a full consultation appointment with one of our physicians.

What to Expect At Your Consultation

After completing a history form, you will be asked to change into a gown and brought into an exam room.  An ultrasound will be performed to visualize your problematic veins while you are standing.  Other state of the art technologies may also be used, all of which are painless and noninvasive.  This will allow us to determine whether or not your veins are functioning properly, as well as the necessary course of treatment for your veins.  You will meet with a physician who will discuss relevant background information, treatment options, and the risks and benefits of each option in detail.

Preparing for Your EVLT, Microphlebectomy, or Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy Procedure

The morning of your procedure, take a shower and wash your leg with antibacterial soap, and refrain from applying any lotion or powder to your leg.  Your leg should be shaved, up to and including your groin.  Wear loose fitting pants and shoes to your procedure to allow room for post-procedure compression bandages.  Bring your compression stockings with you to each appointment, which can be purchased in our office at your consultation appointment.  Bring someone with you to drive you home; you will be unable to drive for 24 hours following a procedure.

Preparing for Your Cosmetic Spider Vein Treatment

The morning of your appointment, take a shower and wash your leg with antibacterial soap.  Do not apply lotion or powder to your leg.  Shave any areas that may need treatment.  Wear loose fitting pants and shoes to allow room for post-procedure compression garments.  After filling out a short history form, you will be asked to change into a gown and brought into an exam room.  A brief ultrasound will be performed to ensure that your spider veins are not caused by an underlying problem with larger veins under the surface.  After confirming that there are no underlying problems, a physician will discuss cosmetic sclerotherapy and expected results in detail prior to performing the procedure.
